Your Journey, My Story: Meet Baris
Hi there! If you’re looking for a journey that feels more like traveling with a knowledgeable friend than with a standard tour guide, you’ve come to the right place.
The Road to Becoming Your Guide
My story began in the green landscapes of Zonguldak in the North. After finishing high school in the coastal city of Izmir, I followed my curiosity to the heart of Turkey: Cappadocia. I studied Tourist Guiding at Nevsehir University and officially earned my license in 2012.
Since then, I’ve been exploring every corner of this country as a Nation-Wide guide. My passion for history goes beyond the guidebooks; I have a deep interest in the intricate world of Byzantine Art History and the fascinating mysteries of Neolithic civilizations. For me, this job isn’t about memorizing dates—it’s about bringing these ancient stories to life and sharing the real spirit of Turkey with you.
What Makes Our Journey Special?
Through the Lens
I’m a big fan of nature and archaeology photography. You’ll usually see me with my camera (a Sony A7M4) because I love capturing the "soul" of a place. This passion helps me show you those fine details and hidden viewpoints that most people might walk right past.
Having a camera in my hand has taught me to slow down and truly observe how the light changes on ancient walls throughout the day. I love finding that perfect angle where history meets the golden hour, creating a memory that lasts forever. If you’re a fellow photography enthusiast, I’m more than happy to help you find the best spots and settings to capture your own stunning shots during our trip.
At Home in the Outdoors
I simply love being in nature. Whether it’s a quiet morning walk through a valley or a more active hike, I feel most at ease when I'm outdoors. I enjoy including these moments in my programs so you can experience the landscapes of Turkey just as they are—raw and beautiful.
There’s something incredibly grounding about walking through a quiet path where the only sound is the wind and your own footsteps. It’s the best way to escape the busy tourist spots and really connect with the spirit of the land. Whether you want a challenging trek or just a peaceful stroll, I can tailor our route to make sure you feel as refreshed and inspired as I do when I'm out here.
A Taste of Anatolia
I believe you can’t truly know a culture until you’ve tasted it. I love cooking as much as I love eating! It’s a joy for me to find those authentic local spots and the best spice shops. If you’re interested, we can even dive into the kitchen together for a traditional Turkish cooking class here in Cappadocia.
For me, a local market is just as important as a museum; it’s where the living culture of Turkey truly shines through the aromas of fresh herbs and spices. I enjoy sharing the stories behind the ingredients we use, from sun-dried peppers to unique blends that have been traded for centuries. Cooking together isn't just about the meal; it's about the laughter and conversation that happen naturally around a Turkish table.
Let’s Make it Unforgettable
Turkey is a mix of incredible history, breathtaking views, and warm hospitality. My goal is to blend these into a trip that feels personal and relaxed.
If you're planning a visit and want a bit of local help to make it smooth and special, feel free to reach out. Let’s plan something great together.
Hope to see you soon!
